OEM glass vs Non-OEM glass! What’s the big deal?

Why can’t I have OEM glass for my vehicle through my insurance? Good question and one that is asked daily. What does this mean? Well it is the difference between market glass vs after market glass. SO if you have a certain make of vehicle, why don’t insurance companies replace your broken glass with that make of glass? GREAT QUESTION! One that has a very simple answer! You take two equivalent pieces of glass and one you put a brand name on, and the other you do not. Which one will cost more? Obviously the brand name. Again, they are 2 equal pieces of glass, but one has a brand name giving the dealer the right to charge double for that particular piece of glass. The insurance company comes in and decides, if they are two equal pieces of glass, we don’t want to pay double the price? So they don’t. However, some clients still prefer the OEM glass and that’s alright. Insurance companies usually offer and option to pay out-of-pocket for the difference in price between the two. They will also offer a guarantee for the Non-OEM glass if you choose to go that route. So if any defects are found, they will replace the glass right away! So you do have options!
